Crowchild Twin Arena Oldtimers (CTAOT)
Hockey Tournament

Oldtimers Hockey: "Where your ego writes cheques your body can't cash!"

crowchild-twin-arena.jpg

Played out of the beautiful Crowchild Twin Arena, in Scenic Acres, Calgary, this tournament has been running (in various formats) since 1993 (which was the 10th anniversary of the Crowchild Twin Arena building, built in 1983).

This is a fun tournament, with players ranging in age from the low 30s, right up to the late 60s (and higher?).  Most players are from the surrounding communities of Scenic Acres, Silver Springs, and Varsity.  Originally, this tournament showcased the talents of various Crowchild Arena based groups: Scenic Acres Oldtimers, Coaches, Brew Crew, Varsity Velocity, and more.

In 2007, the tournament took a twist with the introduction of the 1972 "Summit Series" Group A.  Players were grouped into new teams: CanadaRussiaSweden, and Finland, wearing jerseys specially made for the tourney. With 'national' pride running high, games were a little more intense (for what 'oldtimers' could muster!) than in previous years! (introduced original 4 sets of "Summit Series" jerseys & 4 garment bags - Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland)
