The Cards Eh! Deck of Playing Cards
Cards Eh! is a regular deck of playing cards that colorfully displays
Canadian geography and heritage. In Cards Eh!, each of the traditional
ACE to KING cards is associated with a province, the territories, or the
country as a whole (e.g. ACE = Canada, 2 = British Columbia, 3 = Alberta,
... KING = Northwest Territories/Nunavut).
The four standard suits are then used to display the major cities, flags,
coats-of-arms, and major water bodies for each province, territory, and
the country.
The recent (April 1, 1999) division of Canada's Northwest Territories
into two new territories, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, is
highlighted by depicting Nunavut and the Northwest Territories together
(i.e. KING = Northwest Territories/Nunavut in order to show how one
territory became two).
Also indicated on the card faces for each province and territory are the
dates of confederation, the total land area, and the mottos. The Canadian
national, anthem in both English and French, is printed on the two wild
cards.
There are 54 different faces in the Cards Eh! deck and each card is
printed in full color on high quality linen cardstock.
Additional Cards
In addition to the standard 54 playing cards, the Cards Eh! deck also
includes 4 extra cards. Two of these extra cards describe examples of
how to modify traditional card games by incorporating Canadiana (see
below). The two remaining cards are quick reference cards that
summarize the Canadian facts included in the deck (e.g. the capitals of
each province and territory, the mottos, the dates of confederation, and
the land areas).
Cards Eh! Card Games
Because the Cards Eh! deck includes standard playing card markings, all
traditional card games can be played. However, any card game can also be modified to incorporate basic
Canadian geography and heritage. Here are a few examples (click on the games for
the rules): IMAGINE NATION (versus CONCENTRATION)
MAP (versus SNAP)
NO FISH (versus GO FISH) Ideas for any additional games are very welcome and will be gladly
posted here. Please contact
